EXPLORING A RANGE OF DIFFERENT EMBELLISHMENT TECHNIQUES BROUGHT MUCH NEEDED TEXTURE TO THE DIGITALLY PRINTED TOILES.

USING A VARIETY OF DIFFERENT COLOURED SEQUINS I BUILT FLOWER SHAPES THAT WOULD BE APPLIED TO THE PRINTS, THE PRINTS ARE MATTE AND LACKED DEPTH, ADDING BEAD WORK AND SEQUINS GAVE A MORE HUMOROUS AND FUN IMPACT.

HAND EMBELLISHMENT ALLOWS MORE EXPERIMENTATION AND IS NOT AS RESTRICTIVE AS MACHINE EMBROIDERY OR EMBELLISHMENT.

APPLYING THE EMBELLISHMENTS NEEDED TO BE RESTRICTED SO IT WOULD NOT TAKE TOO MUCH ATTENTION AWAY FROM THE PRINT IT WAS SITTING ON, STRATEGIC PLACEMENT OF BEADWORK WAS CRUCIAL AS SOME FLOWERS WERE LARGER THAN OTHERS AND WEIGHT AND BALANCE HAD TO HARMONISE, SO IT DID NOT WEIGH DOWN THE FABRIC.

DUCK EGG BLUE AND PURPLE DIGITALLY PRINTED TOILE PRINT, PRINTED ONTO A SOFT BRUSHED VELVET WITH A MATTE SURFACE WITH NO HAND EMBELLISHMENT ADDED TO THIS PRINT, TO ALLOW THE SOFT NATURE OF THE FABRIC TO BE THE FOCUS OF THE PRINT.

PURPLE REFLECTION PENGUIN AND ZEBRA PRINT, WITH BLACK OUT-LINE OF DETAIL LARGER SCALE MOTIFS WITH TRANSPARENT BACK-GROUND PRINT AND VARYING DEPTHS OF PURPLE TONES PRINTED ONTO DUCHESS SATIN. SURFACE EMBELLISHMENT APPLIED BY HAND, SYMMETRICALLY EXCEPT THE CENTER PENGUIN MOTIF WHICH IS ASYMMETRICAL.

ORANGE AND PURPLE TOILE DE JOUY INSPIRED FINAL DIGITAL PRINTS. SURFACE EMBELLISHMENT APPLIED BY HAND, SEWN ONTO A DUCHESS SATIN FABRIC WITH COTTON THREAD, SEQUINS BEADS AND FELT 3D FLOWERS TO CREATE TEXTURE AND SHINE.
